Old to new jewellery

A jewellery remodelling story…

Our client came to us with a collection of old jewellery. She was looking to have this re-imagined into three pieces; an engagement set, bangle and pendant. Our process begins with us sketching ideas, then presenting them to our client. At this stage we offer suggestions to make the jewellery suitable to the wearer’s taste- things like: delicate, two tone, subtle or sparkly. She already wore some white and rose gold, so it was important to combine this feature into the design. This way her new jewellery could be worn alongside her current pieces. Amongst the old jewellery were 54 gemstones. Our client opted to have these spread across all three of her new pieces.

There were also two rose gold wedding rings worn by our client’s Mother and Gran. Rather than melt down, we suggested soldering one on top of the other, with the ruby and diamond charm hanging in between. This way the engraving on the inside would remain intact.

Once the designs were finalised, it was time for us to begin creating. Every aspect of the manufacturing is carried out in our workshop in Larkhall, by our team of goldsmiths.

Our client now has a whole collection of modern jewellery, re-created from old jewellery. The sentiment and stories which came with her old pieces are still there- with a whole new chapter ready to be written!
