Shirley began her jewellery career in 1979, learning her craft as an apprentice in the art of handmaking fine jewellery. Alongside mastering traditional goldsmithing techniques, she developed a love of gemstones through her study of Gemmology, earning a Diamond Diploma with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A).

By 1987, brimming with ideas for the style of jewellery she wanted to create, Shirley Paris Jewellery was born. Her delicate, flowing designs in gold and platinum quickly became sought-after across Scotland, with diamonds and vibrant coloured gemstones at their heart. Over the years, teal sapphires, green tourmalines, and pink rubellite- cut in elegant pear and oval shapes- have become her signature, each stone set in graceful sweeps and curves that feel as natural as they are timeless.

Shirley’s first collection, Dawn ’til Dusk, stayed true to her in-house aesthetic. These intricate pendants and earrings in sterling silver and 9ct gold earned her a Scottish Gift Award and found their way into shops across Scotland and beyond. A collaboration with Ortak soon followed, adding vibrant coloured enamel to her repertoire and bringing a new layer of depth to her collections.

Her journey included a destination jewellery shop, where for over a decade she worked alongside her daughter, Hannah, bringing ideas to life for clients across Scotland. Over time, her reputation for distinctive design and meticulous craftsmanship grew, making her one of Scotland’s most respected bespoke jewellers.

Today, Shirley works from her private workshop, meeting clients by appointment in a dedicated studio space. Whether creating a new bespoke design or reimagining a much-loved heirloom, she continues to craft each piece with the same care, detail, and artistry that has defined her work for over four decades- jewellery made to be worn, loved, and passed on.
