Slow jewellery

You might have heard the term ‘slow fashion’ or even ‘slow living’, but what exactly is slow jewellery?

This term refers to the speed at which jewellery is created by a manufacturer. Slow jewellery brands have a more sustainable approach to the craft of their pieces, and this is accompanied by many benefits for the planet, as well as the consumer.

Shirley and Hannah will spend many hours developing new collections, sketching and designing styles that will last for a lifetime, not just a season. Many of our clients will visit after 30 years of wearing pieces Shirley created in her early days as a jeweller- still cherishing them- which is the ultimate compliment to any craftsman. We have continued this high quality of design and production to this day.

Once Shirley & Hannah are satisfied a design meets our standard, we will begin our process of manufacturing. Shirley uses CAD to generate our pendants, earrings & rings, which are cast in small batches in 100% recycled gold, silver and platinum. Once castings have been created by our UK casters, our team begin the finishing process, which includes diamond setting and polishing.

New collections will take our designers anywhere from 1-2 months to develop, with a further 4-5 months of casting, setting and finishing. After which, pieces will receive extensive checks from our professional goldsmiths.

Jewellery which is produced at a slower rate will be higher quality, and therefore longer lasting. Our jewellery is made with the intention of lasting a lifetime, with the proper care and maintenance.
