Yorkhill Sick Children's Hospital Project 'October 2008 saw the installation at Yorkhill Renal Unit of a magnificent work of art created by craftsman, Alan Kain in collaboration with Shirley Paris, goldsmith. This large wall mounted piece incorporates Scottish hardwoods to produce a fantastic picture of a woodland scene with squirrels, foxes and butterflies around a large tree. Shirley Paris produced 68 silver leaves of commemoration for the children who have received transplants within the unit since 2000.' Transplants before 2000 are remembered by a separate plaque of specially designed silver leaves.

Kelvingrove Loveseat Memorial Service

Following on from the celebrated Loveseat made for Kidney Research UK in 2005 by Alan Kain and Shirley Paris, a memorial service was recently hosted in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. This was attended by many recipient and donor families and was addressed by Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish Health Minister. Shirley and Alan were delighted to attend and meet the various speakers.
